Privacy Policy
In short: NC Selvam is a private app for one family. Only invited family members can use it. We collect what the family needs to keep track of its shared savings, we store it in India, we never sell it, and we never show ads.
Who runs NC Selvam
NC Selvam is run by Kaliraj, the Big Family Head of the Natarajan & Chellamal family, for up to 20 family members. It is not a business and has no customers outside the family. Membership is by invitation only.
What we collect
- Your profile: name, email address (your sign-in ID), date of birth, your place in the family tree and your household.
- Family money records: monthly contributions, transfer screenshots and bank references you upload, NC Coins, cash-out requests and approvals, and the family fund's holdings.
- Your own investments, if you add them: holdings, order slips, paper trades and passive income (dividends, interest, rent). If you connect a Zerodha or Groww account, we read your holdings with read-only access. NC Selvam never places orders.
- Knowledge library: notes, documents and tips that members add. When a WhatsApp chat is imported, phone numbers are removed and only names and message text are kept.
- Security data: your password (stored only as a one-way hash), your authenticator key (encrypted), passkey public keys, hashed recovery codes, your signed-in sessions, and the device and IP address used to sign in, so we can warn you about a new device.
- Activity log: a record of who did what (for example, who approved a contribution), so the family's money stays accountable.
What the mobile app uses on your phone
- Camera: only when you choose to take a photo of a transfer proof or a document.
- Photos and files: only the picture or file you pick.
- Face ID or fingerprint: only to unlock the app on your phone. Your face or fingerprint never leaves your device and we never receive it.
- We do not use your location, contacts or microphone. There are no ads, no advertising ID and no tracking.
How we use it
- To run the family fund: record contributions, work out coin value, handle cash-outs and keep the monthly books.
- To show you your own money and, where you choose to share it, show it to your Family Head.
- To keep accounts secure: sign-in, two-step verification, new-device alerts.
- To send you in-app notifications about your contributions, approvals and payouts.
Who can see it
- Family members, by role: everyone sees shared family information such as the family fund and coin value. Your Family Head sees your household's contributions. Your own portfolio is private unless you turn on sharing.
- Service providers: the app is hosted on Amazon Web Services in Mumbai, India. If you connect Zerodha or Groww, we exchange data with them only to read your holdings.
- Market data: prices come from public sources (NSE, AMFI and a gold price service). No personal data is sent to them.
- We never sell or rent your data, and we never share it for advertising. We share it with authorities only if the law requires it.
Where and how it is stored
Your data is stored in Amazon Web Services' Mumbai region (India), encrypted at rest, and sent only over HTTPS. Uploaded files are private and are opened only through the app after you sign in. Backups are kept in the same region.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you are a member. If you leave, we delete your profile, security data and personal uploads on request. Records of money paid into or out of the family fund are kept for as long as the family needs them for its accounts and tax, because other members' coin values depend on them.
Children
Children under 18 do not sign up themselves. A parent adds them and holds their coins. Minors have a limited view and cannot see the knowledge library or other members' money.
Your choices and rights
You can see and correct your profile in the app, choose whether to share your portfolio, disconnect a broker account, sign out other devices and remove passkeys. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, a correction or deletion. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you have the right to access, correct and erase your personal data and to raise a complaint.
